In the Central Highlands of Vietnam, faith comes at a cost. Religious freedom is guaranteed by law, but in practice it is often restricted, and persecution is a real part of life for many churches and Christian communities. Believers in these remote areas need encouragement, and they watch for the day their pastor arrives.

Pastor Thanh is part of the team at a church in the Highlands, with responsibility for evangelism and pastoral care. Every week he travels more than 500 kilometres, winding through mountain roads to visit small house churches and share the gospel with unreached people groups who might otherwise never hear it.

There was just one problem. His old motorbike kept breaking down, and every breakdown meant a visit missed and a congregation left waiting. For years, Pastor Thanh prayed for a new bike that would make his journeys easier and safer.

Then, through our On Your Bike project, AsiaLink was able to provide the funds for a new one.

Now the breakdowns are behind him. Pastor Thanh can reach the remote communities he is called to serve, spending time with them, sharing the message of salvation and building up believers who are standing firm in difficult circumstances. He is deeply thankful to God for answering his prayer, and to the people whose generosity made it possible.

Every kilometre he rides is a reminder that God hears the prayers of his people, and that our giving can carry hope further than we might imagine.
