In Mongolia, many children grow up in hard places. Poverty is widespread, and for a lot of families the pressures are overwhelming. Parents often lack the skills to care well for their children, and alcoholism is painfully common. Too many kids grow up without the guidance, stability and example they need.

Nine years ago, our partners launched the Good Child Project in Mongolian schools. Using biblical principles, it teaches children to respect others and their elders, to listen and learn in class, and to live disciplined everyday lives.

Chinzo was part of the pilot. His fifth–grade class of boys would have given even the most patient, kind teachers a headache. But over the two years of the programme, something shifted. By the end of it, Chinzo and two of his friends had become followers of Jesus and were getting involved in their local churches. Chinzo says the Good Child programme was his first step towards knowing God.

Today, Chinzo is a trainer in an evangelistic programme for children. Alongside his two friends, he teaches other young people the skills they need to train, mentor and grow young disciples of Jesus. He is also an active part of his church’s youth programme, and he is thankful for the training he received almost a decade ago.

The boys who once struggled to sit still in class are now helping the next generation follow Christ.
