No Longer Alone

Nuba’s story of transformation in the Tibetan camps.

Nuba is from a Tibetan family and grew up in Mustang working as a shepherd girl. As a result, she did not have a strong grasp on the Tibetan language, favouring Nepali instead.

Nuba got married, had children and moved to the camp near Pokhara, but her aggressive nature caused a lot of friction in the home. There were countless arguments with her husband and children, and she would regularly storm off back to Mustang until her husband begged her to return to the camp.

One day, she bumped into our partner, Amrita, as they were taking their children to school. Amrita invited her into her home and as they chatted, she asked why Nuba was struggling with such fierce anger. Nuba replied that she was not educated, that she had no value in her family, and that her husband would take all the money each month and leave nothing for her. Amrita encouraged Nuba not to travel to Mustang when things got difficult, but to seek a resolution.

Nuba had heard of Jesus before but knew very little about the message of the gospel. Amrita was able to speak with her about Christ, and in time Nuba accepted his offer of salvation. She was baptised in 2024 and says that she has become much more confident and seen her burdens lifted by the Lord.

Nuba never thought that there would be hundreds of other Tibetan believers; her husband insisted that she, and our partners, Aden and Amrita were the only ones. She was delighted to be at the 2025 Tibetan Christian Conference, where she was able to meet many other Tibetan believers and experience the joy of having them all pray for her in response to her wonderful testimony.

Nuba asks us to pray for a better relationship with her husband and children, and for peace in the family.
