Who is the rightful ruler of Myanmar?
That has been a burning question since the military coup in 2021. Much ink has been spilled and much blood shed to in pursuit of an answer. Our partners have seen the conflict up close, sometimes finding themselves in significant danger. Videos from workers on the ground have shown children terrified by the sound of bombs falling, and countless photos have highlighted the grief and pain caused by displacement, life–changing injuries and the loss of loved ones.

Five years on, Min Aung Hlaing – the general who led the coup – has been elected as the new president. However, the poll was met with widespread dissent and has been derided by many outside the nation, including the United Nations. The general consensus is that the whole process was a sham, designed to enable continued military rule behind a facade of democracy. Meanwhile, the army continues its assault on the nation’s minority groups.
Despite logistical challenges, the work of our partners here continues. While travel is tightly restricted, Bibles are reaching communities eager to read the Word of God. While bombs still fall, brave teams continue to aid those in hiding. And as a new figure takes the presidency, the work to declare Jesus Christ as the rightful ruler of Myanmar remains vital.

Our vision for this devastated nation is to proclaim the incredible hope found in the sovereign reign of Jesus – that He sees every evil deed and knows every loss, that He will judge in righteousness, and that He is full of grace and comfort for all those drowning in sorrow.
When the Lord calls His children home, He will wipe away every tear and establish a rule of perfect peace. Therefore, we long to see eyes lifted to the King of kings across this nation. Every Bible delivered, every worker trained and every church planted takes us one step further towards that goal.
