AN EVENTFUL JOURNEY

As the pain of war continues to affect many people across the Middle East, God is at work in many hearts. Souls are being saved and lives transformed amid the gloomy darkness which overshadows the area. This is the story of one such soul.

Our partner, Joseph had spent a long day at a multinational book fair, selling Christian literature to people from a predominantly Islamic background. Having engaged in many discussions about Jesus and the Christian faith, he was more than ready for a rest.

As Jospeh and his team made their way from the building and hailed a taxi home, they began to encounter some unexpected obstacles. First, the taxi driver asked for an exorbitant fare, seeking to extort the weary group. Having declined to pay the inflated fare, they found a bus which would take them part way there. The vehicle was overcrowded and as he felt increasingly hot and stuffy, Joseph was beginning to regret the decision not to pay for the taxi.

Having arrived at the bus station, the group ordered an Uber to take them home but the driver wanted them to cross a busy highway to get to his car. By this time, Joseph was wondering what in the world was going on. Little did he know that a divine appointment was being arranged.

In the midst of their predicament, another taxi pulled up and they got in. Joseph began a conversation with the driver, seeking an opportunity to share the gospel despite an increasing sense of fatigue. In the back seat, the team were silently but fervently praying for this soul.

It was then that the miracle happened. As they travelled down a crowded and noisy city street, the Holy Spirit touched the heart of the driver. He turned to Joseph with a trembling broken voice and said, “I am lost”.  He began to confess his sins and as they reached their destination, the driver was in no hurry to leave. Instead, he prayed sincerely with tears of repentance and surrendered his life to Christ.

How incredible that God can use even our weariness and delays to bring about his plan of salvation!
