New hope in Central Asia for Akmal.
Akmal’s life was unravelling. At just 22 years old, he had already endured more than many face in a lifetime. Discharged from the army, and his father had fought a long, painful battle with cancer. Four rounds of chemotherapy brought only heartache, and eventually, his father’s life slipped away.
The grief was heavy. The future looked bleak. Job prospects in his country were scarce, and the weight of financial insecurity pressed down on him. But into that darkness, light broke through.
Mirsiad, one of our Challenge 25 partners, stepped into Akmal’s life at just the right time. With compassion and courage, he shared the gospel, explaining to Akmal about the hope of Christ crucified and risen. Akmal listened, wrestled, and then surrendered. He repented of his sins and came to saving faith in Jesus. Suddenly, the broken pieces of his life began to take on a new shape.
Akmal’s hunger for truth grew quickly. He wanted to know his Saviour more deeply, to understand the Word of God, and to walk faithfully. Mirsiad not only discipled him spiritually but also looked for a way to help him practically. Together, they spotted an opportunity: servicing car air conditioning units. It was a way to earn an honest living and move forward.
But just as hope began to spark, another obstacle rose up – soaring inflation. The cost of tools and spare parts pushed the idea out of reach.
Thanks to your support, AsiaLink were able to supply financial help. With a small but significant loan, Mirsiad and Akmal were able to secure what they needed to launch their work. What looked like a minor breakthrough in business was, in truth, something much greater: an opportunity for discipleship, friendship, and a life built on Christ.
Now, side by side, Mirsiad mentors Akmal—not only teaching him how to service air conditioners but training him in the Word, praying with him, and encouraging him to stand firm in faith. What began in grief is growing into joy.
Pray for Akmal and Mirsiad as they work and grow in the Lord together.
