MEET BOGDAN

Serving Christ amidst radical Muslims in Uzbekistan.

Near the southern border with Afghanistan, in a radical Muslim area where opposition is common and fierce, lives a young man seeking to serve the Lord. His family came to faith in Christ in 1998 and suffered significant persecution. Bogdan himself was tortured by the security services, whom locals still refer to as the KGB.

Despite this opposition, Bogdan has developed a passion to reach and disciple those in his community. With no registered churches in the region, there is little support. Pastors occasionally visit but this is not consistent, so Bogdan eagerly accepted the opportunity to train for ministry when it was presented.

Having completed his studies, his ministry now involves evangelism and discipleship training in the small house churches dotted around his region. A lack of financial resources restricts the time and opportunities available, as does the significant surveillance he and other believers face from the security services – a situation only heightened by the turmoil in neighbouring Afghanistan.

Despite all this, God is blessing Bogdan’s ministry and the church is slowly growing. Bogdan is hugely grateful for the support and encouragement he receives. He asks us to pray for permission to open a church, faithfulness among those he disciples, and the provision of a vehicle to expand the reach of his ministry.

Support Bogdan today through the Asian Workers Fund.
