Enthusiastic Faith!

Twenty come to faith in South–East Asia.

When multiple people from one South–East Asian village expressed their desire to follow Jesus, our partners travelled to meet them. Wonderfully, 20 people came to Christ! These new believers then made a costly decision. In their culture, people build shrines or ‘spirit houses’ to safeguard their homes. With heartfelt faith, these new believers tore down their spirit houses.

In the following months, they sought to follow Jesus faithfully, but teaching is hard to access in rural areas and persecution is common. When a church held a seminar for new believers, six people from this village and another joyfully travelled to attend.

For poor believers, travel is expensive, so they were offered help with the cost. However, they made the unusual choice to decline, saying, “We are so excited and happy that we were invited to study God’s Word and to meet the people and also have good food, so we don’t need to get money for traveling costs.” Our partners had never met anyone who refused this help before, and these attendees faced greater costs than most. Praise God for working powerfully in that village, and ask that these new believers would continue to grow in faith!
