A Life–Changing Car Journey!

Seizing gospel opportunities across Nepal.

One of the central tenets of AsiaLink’s ministry is to support workers reaching the unreached people of Asia. These workers might be evangelists, pastors, or church planters but they all are firmly committed to the faithful proclamation of God’s Word to those who need to hear it.

One of our longer–term partners is Batsal, an evangelist in Nepal whose name has been changed for security.

Over the summer months, which are monsoon season in Nepal, Batsal held a 10–week long discipleship training programme. Believers came from all over the nation, with many travelling long distances to attend. Batsal gives thanks to God for this time and for all that the students were taught. Soon, the teaching materials will be distributed to church leaders on audio and Batsal asks for prayer that the Lord would bless this effort as well.

Batsal has just returned from teaching at a youth camp for Christian teenagers. Having previously visited the area earlier this year, he was encouraged to be invited back to speak to around 100 young people from different churches. When he first visited Christians in this area, Batsal discovered that their understanding of the gospel was unclear.

One girl who had heard the teaching was particularly grateful. She said, “I have only known who Jesus is, but not really have known Him personally.” The young people were really engaged in the teaching and full of questions. Pray for this group as they grow up in the faith, that the Lord would bring them to spiritual maturity.

As Batsal returned home from the camp, he encountered a couple who asked him for a lift to Kathmandu. Thanking God for the divine appointment, Batsal took the opportunity of a three–hour car journey to explain the gospel. As he got to know the couple, he discovered that they had Christian relations and some knowledge of what Christians believed, yet they didn’t truly understand the gospel. After hearing Batsal explain the work of Christ, the wife wanted to follow the Lord. Before they parted ways, she asked for a Bible, a request Batsal was delighted to fulfil!

Praise God for Batsal’s ministry, reaching and teaching God’s Word faithfully across Nepal! Pray for this woman as she starts her new life in Christ and ask that the Lord would work in her husband’s heart to bring him to saving faith as well.
