Tibet - The Greatest Story Never Told

Asia remains the greatest challenge in world evangelization today and nowhere presents greater obstacles than Tibet.

Over 20 million people but just a handful of scattered underground fellowships and barely 1,000 Tibetan Christians anywhere in the world.

Buddhism is everywhere. From birth to death, it pervades society.

Children are frequently recruited into monasteries from as young as six years old. The best and brightest are selected, leaving their homes and families and studying for five years. They have few possessions: a ceremonial bowl made from a human skull, silver charms to ward off dogs and the traditional three-edged dagger to keep away ignorance, passion and aggression.

The children, usually boys, memorize some 300 Buddhist scriptures before entering a world of service with omens and demons, meditations and chants. This is a theatre of darkness and, with almost 2000 monasteries and 50,000 monks and spiritual leaders, the next generation of trained Buddhists is on the horizon. The young are being reached and the future appears to be safe-guarded.

We want to help Tibetans understand a Message they have never heard before. For too many today, it remains the greatest story never told!

AsiaLink partners are involved in radio as well as Bible translation, printed literature and personal evangelism, discipleship and training. They are absolutely committed to seeing God’s Name praised in the high Himalayas!

Tibetan work is slow and complicated. Few have come to Christ. Few understand the Story.  It’s our conviction, however, that everyone should have the opportunity to hear the Good News!
